The Davis Filmmaking Society (DFS) is a student-run filmmaking organization at the University of California, Davis. We are a collective of new and experienced filmmakers who share a common interest and commitment in creating films. DFS has committed to pushing the boundaries of filmmaking since its founding during the 2013-14 academic year.

DFS serves as an educational opportunity for aspiring filmmakers who hope to break into the film industry with the skills and hands-on production experience they gain through their UC Davis education. We do this by hosting general meetings, club-wide productions, workshops, pitch competitions, and flash film challenges. Furthermore, experience in organizing a film festival is obtained through opportunities unique to DFS and its historical foundations: attending the Sundance Film Festival and organizing the annual DFS Film Fest.

Beyond its educational gravitas, DFS is committed to providing its members with social opportunities, such as fostering long-term collaborative partnerships, bridging relations with the UC Davis Cinema and Digital Media department, and connecting with alumni and industry experts. This is done through activities like film viewings, club gatherings, speaker panels, and networking events.
